A Little Story Behind Mero Maamu ko Maaya

A while back, I took some time off Instagram. Many people asked me what I did with all the "extra" time I suddenly had. Honestly, it wasn’t that much more time, but it was a lot less distraction.

In that quiet space, I wrote a poetic ode to my mother for her birthday. I imagined it would remain just between us, but she loved it so much that she wanted more people to read it. And when your mother insists… you listen.

What followed was nerve-wracking 🥺. I had to get past my own imposter syndrome and commit to publishing. I’d already seen numerous ads of BookLeaf Publishing’s 21-day writing challenge on Instagram and finally took the plunge. In my case, the words were already written but reshaping them into a book format was its own challenge.

And then, one fine day, it happened. I received an email that said Your Book is Live! 🎉

This journey has shown me something important:

- Publishing a thought online is one experience.

- Writing a book for personal consumption is another.

- But holding a printed copy, knowing it can live on someone’s bookshelf, is a whole new world.

Do I still worry?

Of course. About whether people will connect with it, whether my writing is worth reading, whether it will find its place. But now that it’s out in the world, I’m trusting the universe to carry it to the right hands.
