Some gifts can’t be wrapped, and this one became a book.
For my mother, the least materialistic person I know, no “thing” could ever capture her spirit. Shoes, bags, jewellery, clothes, none of it matters to her. Her real riches are strong family ties, delicious food, good books, close friends, and peaceful sleep.
So instead, I gave her words. An epic poem about our bond, her boundless love, and the way she has shaped my life.
When she read it on the morning of her birthday, she called me an hour later in tears (happy ones, she insists). I thought it would remain between us but, my proud mother wished for the world to read it.
That poem has now become my book: Mero Maamu ko Maaya, self-published through BookLeaf Publishing. The paperback is available on Barnes & Noble, Amazon India, Amazon Worldwide and the e-book is available on the Bookleaf Website.
I hope you’ll take a few minutes with these pages. And I’d love to know what memories of your mother it brings back for you.
